Type family
The fatface genre originated in the early 19th century during the Industrial Revolution in Britain. As industries and cities rapidly grew, so did the demand for eye-catching advertising materials. This led to the creation of bold, high-contrast typefaces designed to capture attention from afar on posters, signs, and other printed materials.
Slimak is a fatface type family with strong terminals, designed in three optical sizes to ensure perfect readability across various contexts. It features rounded corners, which add a friendly and approachable touch to its bold and dramatic letterforms. The typeface is enriched with calligraphic details, offering a subtle elegance that contrasts beautifully with its high-impact weight.
One of the distinguishing characteristics of this type family is its very high x-height, which enhances legibility and gives the typeface a modern, robust appearance. This high x-height also ensures that text remains readable even at smaller sizes.
